The Citation Bar supports DTS Digital Surround and Dolby Audio.
These are formats that can be processed by both the included HDMI as well as the optical cable. There is thus no difference in audio quality regardless of the connection method. The benefit of connecting using HDMI ARC is that the HDMI cable can process picture and CEC commands as well as audio, but if the soundbar is optically connected and you programme the remote control through the soundbar’s display, then you can still operate both your television and the soundbar with one remote control.
